Human herpesvirus 6 variant A glycoprotein H-glycoprotein L-glycoprotein Q complex associates with human CD46.
Human CD46 is a cellular receptor for human herpesvirus 6 (HHV-6). Virus entry into host cells requires a glycoprotein H (gH)-glycoprotein L (gL) complex. We show that the CD46 ectodomain blocked HHV-6 infection and bound a complex of gH-gL and the 80-kDa U100 gene product, designated glycoprotein Q, indicating that the complex is a viral ligand for CD46.
متن کاملCharacterization of a novel third member of the human cytomegalovirus glycoprotein H-glycoprotein L complex.
A prerequisite for understanding the molecular function of the human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) gH (UL75)-gL (UL115) complex is a detailed knowledge of the structure of this complex in its functional form, as it is present in mature virions. The gH protein is known to be a component of a 240-kDa envelope complex designated as gCIII (D. R. Gretch, B. Kari, L. Rasmussen, R. C. Gehrz, and M. F. Stinsk...
متن کاملGlycoprotein L sets the neutralization profile of murid herpesvirus 4
Antibodies readily neutralize acute, epidemic viruses, but are less effective against more indolent pathogens such as herpesviruses. Murid herpesvirus 4 (MuHV-4) provides an accessible model for tracking the fate of antibody-exposed gammaherpesvirus virions. Glycoprotein L (gL) plays a central role in MuHV-4 entry: it allows gH to bind heparan sulfate and regulates fusion-associated conformatio...
متن کاملCrystal structure of the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) glycoprotein H/glycoprotein L (gH/gL) complex.
The Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is a γ-herpesvirus that infects B cells and epithelial cells and that has been linked to malignancies in both cell types in vivo. EBV, like other herpesviruses, has three glycoproteins, glycoprotein B (gB), gH, and gL, that form the core membrane fusion machinery mediating viral penetration into the cell. The gH and gL proteins associate to form a heterodimeric comp...
متن کاملMyelin-Oligodendrocyte Glycoprotein Antibodies Spectrum Disorders
Myelin-Oligodendrocyte Glycoprotein (MOG) is an adhesive molecule responsible for myelin sheath structural integrity and maintenance. Patients with spectrum of inflammatory demyelinating disease particularly in central nervous system are reported to have antibodies against this protein. Diseases such as multiple sclerosis, clinically isolated syndrome, neuro-myelitis optica (NMO) spectrum disor...
